  8. Law & Order's MICHAEL MORIARTY slips off the suspenders he
  9. sports as prosecutor Ben Stone, he slips into a melody-making
  10. alter ego. "Music was my first interest; I listened to it in the
  11. bassinet," says Moriarty, a regular performer on the New York
  12. City jazz-club circuit. Later this month, Manhattanites will
  13. sample Moriarty's talents as a classical composer when he
  14. conducts his Symphony for String Orchestra at an annual music
  15. festival.
